God's Rest

Published: February 17, 2022      Updated: February 17, 2022

In my morning devotional this week, I’ve been reading about rest. Rest sounds so lovely and is so much more than sleeping or even just sitting down to enjoy a sunset. Real rest can only come from God. As a staff, we’ve been following the sermon sequence at The Place, so this week we’ve been reading Hebrews 4:1-11, which also talks about rest. Hmmm. I think God has a message for me this week.

Here are a couple of quotes and take-aways from my reading this week.

Thou hast formed us for Thyself, and our hearts are restless till they find rest in Thee. -Augustine

      Without God…I’m restless.

God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it. Hebrews 4:1 NLT

There is a possibility I’ll fail to experience real rest.

So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. Hebrews 4:9 NLT

Special rest…real rest is just waiting for me.

Please don’t let me miss the rest God has promised me. Let me rest in you, God.

Blessings and rest to you all this long weekend Conejo Family!
