Grounded and Growing

Do you ever wake up in confusion wondering what day it is and where you are right now? Today was one of those days for me. Howard, my dog, woke me up multiple times during the night bringing me toys and wanting to play much to my delight. It is time for sleeping Howard! And then suddenly, my alarm was ringing. Just a little about me, my alarm almost never goes off because I always wake up before it rings and turn it off…not today. How did your morning start? Whenever my alarm rings, I’m confused. What is that sound? Where am I? What day is it? What did I forget? Confusion is never a pleasant way to start the day. I’m thankful today that God is never confused.

In a devotional I read this morning after I got my bearings and realized it was Thursday and I did indeed need to get out of my bed, the author was reminding me that God’s words need to be lived and not just read. Living out His words keeps me grounded and growing. Living out His words keeps the confusion of our world out of my direct line of focus and brings God’s plan into focus.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV
