I Trust in God

A Happy Mid-September to you all! The weather is playing tricks on me today. Looking out the window, I want to have a hot cup of tea and some cookies, but when I exit the building, I’m transported to a tropical land and craving shave ice. I believe this scenario happens often with me. I’m looking forward to cooler days and the delights of fall so I would rather believe it is cold outside and sip my tea than face the reality of the warm tropical weather outside. How often do I turn a blind eye to reality to reinforce what I want to believe?

Our world is filled with half-truths everywhere we look. My daughter has started playing, “Is it real or is it AI?” with me because I so easily believe the cute animal videos I see online. What? Those rabbits aren’t really jumping on the trampoline? But they are so cute! Really? Oh, ok. It is so difficult to determine what is factual, what is purely fictional, and what is partly true when I can Google anything and find a source to back up my belief. Who and what can I trust? Where can I place my trust? The world is ever changing but I’m grateful for a God who never changes and has proven trustworthy time and time again.

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation. Isaiah 12:2 ESV

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.  Psalm 18:2 ESV
