Happy Thursday Conejo Family! How are your spirits today? Pastor Cameron used to ask me that whenever he saw me instead of, “How are you today?” It would always make me stop and assess how the day was going and I couldn’t just automatically answer, “Good. How are you?” A simple change of words pulled me into community with Pastor Cameron and I knew he was prepared to stop and have a conversation with me.
Last week, I wrote about community, and it is still swirling around in my mind. I’m thinking about how much I rely on community and have relied on community through different stages in my life. I’ve needed people to grow me, keep me accountable, laugh with me, empathize about life circumstances, and just experience life together. It is so easy for the days to pass by without time to interact with others in a meaningful way. When life presents opportunities to enjoy a meal with others, or take a walk with friends, or chat with people I haven’t seen recently, or even just call my sister on the phone, I treasure those moments and remember how important it is to slow down and live, not just exist. Take some time to live today. Reach out to someone. Grow and strengthen your community.
