Routines

Published: May 25, 2023      Updated: May 25, 2023

One more week! Reality is upon me now. My current routine is about to come to a screeching halt and a little less predictable daily life will take over for the summer weeks. As much as we all look forward to summer, it can be stressful for our little ones who crave routine. When my daughter was born, I worked out of my house with a charter school for four years, so I chose to have my son go to preschool just two days a week that first year I was home. In hindsight, I wish I had kept him in school five days a week because that year was so stressful for him. He needed the daily routine and going to school every other day was confusing for him and made every morning a struggle. If it was a school day, he wanted to stay home. If it was a home day, he wanted to go to school. Needless to say, he was back at preschool five days a week the following year and our days were much smoother. A summer schedule and at least a bedtime routine will help keep your little ones feeling secure and happy these next few weeks. Have a great weekend and I’ll see you at the beach on Tuesday!!!
