If you enjoy math, you are my kind of people. Despite the craziness of my office and personal spaces, I love organization. In 6th grade math, we are reviewing and learning about the structure of math like the order of operations, factorization, and other concepts that you probably don’t use on a daily basis but exist around you even if you aren’t aware. Which brings me to today. Today, is a perfect square day. September is the ninth month and nine is a perfect square, 3x3. It is the fourth, 2x2, in the twenty-fifth year, 5x5, and it even works with the entire year, 2025, 45x45. There will be two more perfect square days this month and then the next perfect square day will be in about 10 and half years. I won’t give you the date in case you would like to figure it out for yourself.
Why do I share my delight in this day of mathematical joy? For one, I love learning and sharing the joy of learning with others, but I’m also amazed at the mathematical precision found in the ordinary of life. I’m amazed at the existence of God who created a world of order and precision. I’m amazed when I discover order and precision beneath the chaos of our current world. It is like my journey with God. I’m amazed when I discover and understand more about his perfect character and his unconditional love and forgiveness for me. His perfect love and forgiveness are always there under the chaos of my world. Today, I was far from perfect on this perfect square day, but God still delights in me and wants me to share the joy of his love and forgiveness with others.
